We raise awareness and funds to combat the causes of homelessness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and supporting me and this amazing charity.

Having challenged myself on other treks and had the opportunity to meet and be inspired by some amazing people I thought it was time to once again slip on the boots and this time do it in support of a worthy charity!

The money I raise will help in the construction of a centre for homeless children and young people, helping provide a place of education and training in Moshi, a little remote village at the base of Kilimanjaro.

I am funding the whole trip myself so every penny raised will be sent to the team in Mashi when we return to the UK.

The funds will also help other projects with rehabilitation for orphans and other vulnerable children who have lost parents and family as a result of HIV/AIDS

Training has started and the realisation that I have a long way to go is very real! I'll need all of the support I can get!

About the charity: YAAPHA

YAAPHA (Youth in Action against Poverty and HIV/AIDS) is a local charity near the base of Kilimanjaro. They have a fantastic team and make a huge difference to the lives of the local community. They primarily work with women and orphans, but extend their support to vulnerable children too. Many have lost parents and close relatives to HIV/ AIDS so their focus is to reduce poverty, educate and promote practices for sustainable development, such as entrepreneurship programmes and life skills training.

Thank you for your support and helping me reach my goal of helping others

About the charity

The Fine & Country Foundation has been created to help combat one of the largest social issues in the UK – homelessness. Last year, the Government estimated around 2,414 people sleep on the street on any one night across England, a rise of 36% over three years. Often the reasons for homelessness are misunderstood, with many blaming the individuals for poor life decisions and carelessness. The reality is: people become homeless for a whole range of complex and overlapping reasons that cannot be avoided, such as family breakdowns, mental or physical health problems or debts. Solving homelessness does not only involve putting a roof over people’s heads, it is also trying to tackle the root of the problem and asking the question: why did they became homeless in the first place? The Fine & Country Foundation is dedicated to bringing together all Fine & Country agents in over 300 locations worldwide to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness whilst supporting homeless charities.
