London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
UPDATE: I completed the London Marathon on October 3rd, and had one of the best days of my life. The support from the crowds was incredible.
To those of you who sponsored me last year- a very big thank you. For those visiting this page for the first time- please read my story, and if you feel able, sponsor me to run the London Marathon on October 3rd. Thank you.

My story
I have reached a peak of fitness and health in my life that I haven't known for 25 years. In 2001 I had a heart attack and a second one in 2012. The brilliant cardiac teams at The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and at the University Hospital in Cardiff saved my life. Since 2012, initially with the help of the fantastic Cardiac Rehabilitation team at the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport, I have built up my fitness and health to where it is now - mainly through running - and am now able to run comfortably and competitively.
In 2019, I ran 5 half marathons and numerous 10K and 5K races, and in October 2020 ran the "virtual" London Marathon. I run regularly with my running group, Undy and Redwick Roadrunners. This group has been the main reason for my vast recent improvement. I'm really grateful to all my friends in the group that I've run with over the last few years who have encouraged and supported in me in all my running achievements.
Both my parents suffered from heart disease before they died in their mid seventies. My Dad suffered 4 heart attacks - his first was also at an early age. Since their passing, treatment of heart disease has come on in leaps and bounds. The successful treatment of heart disease and improved survival rates is due in no small measure to the funding that British Heart Foundation has provided for research over the years, and my survival and current full health is a testament to that.
It's for these reasons that I appeal to you to sponsor me to have run the London Marathon 2021, which was on October 3rd. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I'll update you with my training progress and how I did on the day!
