Story
Riders taking part so far in this fundraising challenge are: Clare Bamforth, Sue McIntosh, Diane Firth, Dionne & Paul Elsey, Caitlin Hampson, Sal Salter, Jacqueline Fox, Nikki Jarvis Jones, and Kirsty Moon with maybe more to follow!
We had entered the Tour De Yorkshire sportive, medium route of 50 miles that was to be held this weekend and were going to ride as a ladies group enjoying (enduring!) it together. However, this is not meant to be for this year. Not letting this stop us, we have decided to continue and ride the distance in the comfort of our own homes - but believe us, it won't be comfortable! With the restrictions currently in place, 50 miles will be for some of the group the longest ride this year and for others the longest ride for a good couple of months. We all much prefer to be outside, socially riding with many cafe stops to refuel with cake to see us round the miles so this will be something a bit different, not what we would prefer and very challenging to keep going alone, indoors!
We are going to connect with each other the best we can virtually to keep each other going and will be having our own feed station and comfort breaks!
For one of our group this would have kicked off a month of fundraising for the local Bradford children's charity, One In A Million. They work in disadvantaged area's across Bradford and during this time have a Covid-19 response collaborating with other organisations supporting the vulnerable across the district alongside their existing communities they support.
We are supporting the charity with this virtual ride as we want to do something to help ensure they can continue their work and be there for the children and young people of Bradford once some form of normality returns.
We appreciate there are many good causes to support at this time and thank you for any donation you can give.
