In 2019, my 20 year old son Ned went deaf in one ear, then one side of his face lost movement and we received the devastating news that he had a rare childhood brain tumour. Within weeks, my wife was also diagnosed with breast cancer. There followed months and months of surgery, radio, and chemotherapy. The NHS staff were brilliant, and both are now living full and active lives. Underneath all that the medics did was solid scientific research.
