I will be running in the London Bupa 10k on May 27th, which will be run on part of the marathon course for the London 2012 Olympic Games. I am really passionate about helping and potentially changing lives of people who are affected by alcohol misuse, including family and friends of those that suffer from alcohol issues. Alcohol is one of the biggest substance misuse problems we have in the U.K. which leads to more illnesses and deaths than all illegal drugs put together. There are many, many reasons why people drink alcohol, and charities like Drinkaware give these people, along with those that are indirectly affected by such issues, a chance to improve their lives. This is why I will be running for Drinkaware. Those who know me, know how competitive I am, and every donation, however big or small, will give me extra motivation to complete the race in the fastest time possible. I have started my training, with early morning runs before work and will be looking to complete the race in around 40 minutes. So each donation will add extra motivation and ease the pain!!

For those that do not know, I work for the young person's team, The Place, part of Swansea Drugs Project. It is a project that aims to reduce drug and alcohol harm. The work that takes place is fantastic, providing support, advice and up to date information around drugs and alcohol. It also not only helps to improve lives of those directly and indirectly affected by substances but helps save lives too. So not only am I really passionate about facilitating change within young people's lives who are affected by drugs and alcohol, but anybody that is affected by substance misuse.
