Story
Hi, thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am involved in an incredibly exciting project, to design and build a school for 200 deaf children, in the village of Riandu in Kenya.
The resources and funding available to deaf students in the Western World today, provide for good vocational training and career prospects, but these resources aren't available for deaf students across a large part of Africa.
There are currently 71 primary schools for the deaf in Kenya, but only 5 secondary schools. The effect that this deficit has on the future of most deaf teenagers in Kenya is obviously devastating. We aim to tackle this deficit and make a massive difference to the lives and futures of many deaf young people, their families and communities.
This is a student-lead project - a small team of us are paying to go to Kenya this summer, to build the school in collaboration with local construction teams and volunteers from nearby communities.
Your generosity will go directly towards the resources and materials required to make this project as successful as possible.
I am so busy, in the run up to August, with the design work required, that I am not going to have time to train and run a marathon. Nor will I be selling signed photos of myself, but I will certainly be keeping you updated with our progress!
Please spread this link to your generous friends and any local companies or schools that you think could be interested in sponsoring the project!
Thank you very much.
