Story

RIDE OF THE LIONS

A group of ex British and Irish Lions rugby stars will be riding 1,000Km from the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne to the ANC Stadium in Sydney, between the 2nd and 3rd Lions test matches.

The ex Lions include the rugby legends Roger Uttley OBE, Mike Teague, Peter Winterbottom and Tyrone Howe. They will be riding alongside exWallabies Simon Poidevin, Warwick Waugh and Andrew Heath and around 30 guests aiming to raise £250K for Prince Harry's favoured Walking with the Wounded charity and children’s cancer charity Redkite - the official charity of the Australian Rugby Union.

Not only will these legends be doing the ride, they will also be looking to break the World Record for the Longest Bike Bus with the assistance of riders of all ages as they arrive in Sydney. The current record is set at 639 riders.

The ride is the biggest charity event running alongside the LIons tour of Australia and is supported by the Lions and the Australian Rugby Union. Sir Ian McGeechan is the official Ambassador for the Ride of the Lions.

The riders will form a red and gold peloton fully supported buy a red and gold vehicle convoy between the two cities. The ride will be trackable online between its scheduled dates of 30th June - 6th July.
