Story
I am running the London Marathon for the Guillain-Barré Syndrome Support Group. The reason I have chosen this charity is that my sister-in-law suffers from Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, CIDP for short! CIDP is a rare disease of the peripheral nervous system which affects about 500 people in the UK at any one time. It has a number of different forms which vary enormously in severity but as yet it is incurable. It leads to a loss of strength or sensation and as a result running a marathon is something that sufferers of CIDP can never do.
Any sponsorship money pledged will be going to help:
· The provision of care, information, non-medical advice and other assistance to sufferers and their families;
· Promoting research into the causes, prevention and treatment of the illness; and
· Advancing the education of the public and of the medical professions concerning the illnesses, their causes, prevention and treatment.
In addition I am attempting to complete the London Marathon in a time of less than four hours and any sponsorship you are able to pledge me will drive me on over those last few miles.
Please give generously to this worthy cause.
