We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to stop women dying from breast cancer.

Story

My name is Richard Popple and it was my 50th birthday on the 24th February this year. I have done some previous Charity work for the Anthony Nolan Trust, with a team called the New Inn regulars. By doing the Dragon Boat Race on the river once a year, we managed to raise approximately £32,000.00 over a four year period.

I thought having lived to 50 and some unfortunate people not making that milestone, that I would try to raise money for Charity in my 50th year. I tried thinking about what to do and came up with the idea of 50 things I had never done in my life before. Some of which are my phobias, some quirky and some are day to day tasks. My ultimate goal is to raise £50,000.00 for Charity.  I have previously and hope to continue to also get support from Companies and other organisations, as well as completing the tasks on my list. If you look below you'll see a list of the 50 things i will aim to achieve in 12 months.

I will be supporting two Charities, namely Help for Heroes and Breast Cancer Campaign. I chose the first because I served as a soldier in the British Army for 27 years. I was lucky enough to survive the Falklands war, the Gulf War, and Kosovo without any injuries. The second Charity I have chosen, the breast Cancer Campaign is because my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003.  Thankfully she has now being given the all clear, however she still has 5 yearly check ups.

I would appreciate as much help as possible raising the £50,000.00; I know times are hard but not as hard as it is for some people. Please help, by attending some activities throughout the year. These will be held at the New Inn Clifford Chambers. You can also make a donation at the Nationwide Building Society, upon account number 0525/307 576 376.

All donations go to charity, all my 50 list is self funding or donated.

Thank you for your support.
