I am running the Great North Run, a half marathon, on 9th September and are raising money for the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund (MKMRF).

Mesothelioma is a rare, aggressive form of cancer that develops in the lining of the lungs or abdomen.  Caused by asbestos exposure, mesothelioma has no known cure and has a very poor prognosis.  Asbestos is a natural occurring fibre, which was widely used in construction and other industries until the late 1990s.  The deadly fibres lie dormant for anything from 15 to 50 years.  In the UK about 2500 people per year are diagnosed with mesothelioma.

Your donation will enable us to raise awareness, fund vital research and improve care and support for people affected by mesothelioma.

The support that my Dad received from this charity was priceless. I’m hoping to raise money so the charity can continue providing invaluable care.
