Story
1st challenge, the warm up, on 17th May was the Old County Tops fell race, me & Dave Deason running as a pair. 37 miles over the highest peaks of each the old counties of Cumberland, Westmorland & Lancashire. This was a must finish as last year I let Dave down when I had to retire after 17 miles.
On Saturday 21st June, the usual crazy Dallam crew Mick Pearcy, Dave Deason, Stuart Hurst & me cracked the Paddy Buckley Round, a loop of over 60 miles & 47 mountain peaks in Snowdonia with over 28,000 ft of ascent/descent, to be done non stop. One of the hardest challenges in fell running. What a great team effort this was for us all to finish!
Finally on 24th July I ran the Lakeland 100, a fell race of 105 miles encompassing the whole of the Lake District, starting & finishing at Coniston. This was tough, as it was so hot, 37 hours of running with only quick stops at checkpoints for food & drink.
Approximately 2 years ago my dad started showing signs of Alzheimer's, only mild at first, but over the last 2 years he now needs constant care & lives in a home.
He does now not even recognise me, you cannot imagine how this makes me feel, the man who brought me up, helped me, taught me & was always there for me, doesn't even know me.
Alzheimer's is a horrible disease, please help us raise some money to fight against it.
