We fund research & raise awareness to support the families affected by Mito

Story

Team 'Jacks10' will be taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on Sunday. 29th August. The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles and includes 1585m of ascent over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

The challenge is to complete the trek in under 12 hours in memory of Jack

Jack was a beautiful little boy who died of mitochondrial disorder aged 13 months. In honour of what should be his 10th birthday his family and friends are arranging 10 fund raising and awareness activities in his memory.

Mitochondrial Disorder

Mitochondrial disease, or 'mito', is the term given to a group of medical disorders caused by mutations in mitochondria, the tiny organelles that are present in every cell in our bodies and which generate about 90% of the energy we need to live. Cells cannot function properly without healthy mitochondria, so when they fail the consequences can be serious and wide-ranging.

The Lily Foundation
Jack’s 10 hopes to raise awareness of what mitochondrial disorder is, and to raise vital funds to one day find a cure for this often life limiting illness. Any money raised will be donated to The Lily Foundation, the UK’s leading mitochondrial charity which supports families and drives research into diagnosis and hopefully one day a cure.
