Story
HI!
My name is Richard Smith, I'm a 31 year old Running Coach and Business Manager from Bolton. I am an adventure athlete and I like to push myself to the limits whenever possible. When I tell someone about my ideas and they respond with "Why would you want to do that, you must be mad", I know its a good idea!! And this is no different!!
I've taken part in Ironman UK, Ironman 70.3 Barcelona, numerous adventure races, marathons, etc... and I decided 2016 will be a big year for challenges. I've never ran the London Marathon so decided to enter. Although unsuccessful in the general ballot, I had already decided to run for the Royal British Legion and they offered me a team place.
I am however, running my marathon with a difference! I'm going to start my challenge when I leave my boat in Chorley and run to London starting on Monday 18th April. It's a total of 202 miles between there and the start of the London Marathon. I will arrive in London on Saturday 23rd ready to start the marathon on Sunday 24th April.
I'll then finish my challenge with The London Marathon as part of Team Legion!
I want to raise awareness of the Royal British Legion throughout the UK, but also what can be achieved when you put your mind and body to it! I'm also looking for people to join me along the way "for the journey" and you can do this as your own fundraiser for The Royal British Legion if you want too.
I'll keep you up to date with my route, training and other fundraising as often as I can!
Thanks for taking the time to read through my page and donating to this worthwhile charity!
Rich
