World Homeless Day is all about drawing attention to the needs of the most vulnerable people locally. We have all seen the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable people across Hampshire on top of the issues they already face day-to-day.

Story

With the cost of living crisis occurring, homelessness is increasing therefore I wanted to raise money to support a local charity that provides people with shelter especially in the coming winter months. SSJ is a Southampton-based homelessness charity, providing a range of supported living services across Hampshire. They provide a wide range of support to people from all walks of life experiencing homelessness, problematic alcohol or substance use and mental health problems. Having a safe place to call home is a fundamental human right. Along with the visible street homeless people we see in our towns and cities, there are thousands of people who can be described as the ‘hidden homeless’ – people who are not on the streets but have no actual home. Homelessness disproportionately affects ethnic minorities as well as those in poverty. The number of people finding themselves in this situation is increasing every day and services are struggling to cope with the demand.Your donation goes towards helping the most vulnerable to recovery and gain a new life.
