Story
Hello everyone thank you for visiting my page and showing an intrest. If you don't know me I'm Reona, I'm 21 years old, I'm a final year student midwife studying at ARU down in Cambridge but I've had a very difficult summer last year and decided it best to take a year out to regroup myself.
Many of you will be aware but for those who don't, I lost my best friend David to mental health last July. He has left the biggest hole in mine and everyone who knew him's life that we will never be able to fill, because he was genuinely one in a million. His dry, witty sense of humour and his ability to alway put a smile on your face in his presence is and will always be unmatched. Not a single day goes by were I don't think about him and its still so raw and surreal as time goes on - and it's an experience I would hope no one has to ever go through. But unfortunately they will and suicide something that happens far too commonly and I'm sure you will know at least one person who has been affected by a suicide.
At the time of David's passing, the feeling of helplessness was overwhelming. I knew nothing I did or said would bring him back or ease the pain. As the months go by I still feel the same, however I've been made aware of charities such as MIND who do amazing work in supporting people's mental health or times of crisis and how important prevention is so people don't get to the stage were they feel it is the only option left.
So in absolute honour of my dear Wavy, I have decided to have a go at a 10k run for MIND charity. As my time to return back to university is nearing I wanted to do something for David in his name, almost like a "round up" of my year adjusting to life without him and something that will hopefully be able to raise money for the charity and help others in their time of need. I know times are really really tough so I appreciate any donations you are able to spare at the moment, but just know your money will be put towards amazing services.
To Wavy, we all love you so much and miss you immensely. I hope this will make you proud or at least you can laugh at my attempt of a 10k!
His lovely family set up a tribute page in his honour, which is also raising money for MIND, I'll leave the link if you would like to take a look. https://daviddow.muchloved.com/
Thank you for reading and I hope you will be able to support me and MIND charity.
