Story
I am taking part in this survival hike with my brother and 8 of our friends. We have decided to walk 60 miles across the Lake District in memory of my father, Andrew Bennett, who sadly passed away in January after a courageous battle with Prostrate Cancer. Living at home with my parents I experienced a great deal of sadness and I saw for myself how he fought daily to overcome the pain from this terrible & heart breaking disease.
My friends & I, want to support Keech Hospice where my dad spent his last few days. Keech Hospice is a charity that was very close to my Dad's heart as he raised lots of money for them in the past and I feel like its my time to contribute now to this amazing charity in his memory.
We are starting this hike on Wednesday 1st September and will be doing 60 miles over 4 days camping outdoors overnight and hoping for the best weather conditions but who knows... We chose this time of the year as my Dad would have celebrated his 64th Birthday. This will not be easy as the chosen route will be up & down hill carrying 4 days worth of equipment and supplies. Although I am doing this in his memory I will never get over the stress and pain of losing him.
One of the last few things he said before I lost him was that Keech Hospice was like a luxury hotel and I couldn't say anything different after all his experiences working and staying in top hotels.
Please give generously to this great local charity who do a tremendous job looking after anyone that goes through their doors. Every little helps. Thank you.
