Story
Our journey began in 2017, a group of us set off to Scotland in our Scrap Rally cars - all priced under £500 - with no idea how much money we would raise or even if we would arrive!
Amazingly, we raised £45,860 and then again in 2019, Scrap to the Future Part 2, off we set again with Scotland in our sights, & raised a further £25,000!
This year the aim is to reach £30,000, which will allow us to kick-start the implementation plan for purchasing another novel cancer treatment which has been on our shopping list for years at University Hospital Southampton, but the NHS has not been able to fund. Nanoknife, also known as Irreversible Electroporation (IRE), would enable the team to target some of the most difficult to treat cancers in several settings for PLANETS patients.
It uses advanced thermal technology that can destroy tumours that are really close to critical vascular structures, without damaging them, unlike other conventional types of treatment. If we reach this £30k target it will mean we have raised a total of £100,000 across the 3 Scrap to the Future events we've done so far - so lets get started and put all of our efforts into fundraising for PLANETS Cancer Charity for 2023!
