As a nurse looking after ladies undergoing breast reconstruction, i am inspired by every patient i care for in one way or another. I was particularly inspired by a young lady who has undergone bilateral risk reducing mastectomies and breast reconstruction as she has the BRCA gene. This lady has undergone several operations and has almost finished her breast reconstruction journey. Since having surgery, she has completed the London and New York Marathons, this gave me the motivation to believe i could do it too. I am passionate about my job and take pride in the care i give to the ladies undergoing breast reconstruction following mastectomy. I am running the London Marathon for the Breast Reconstruction Awareness Charity, (which comes under the umbrella of the Mid Essex Hospitals Charity) which helps provide support and equipment for patients undergoing breast reconstruction, above and beyond what the NHS can offer. On behalf of all of the patients and my colleagues, i am truly grateful for any donation towards this fantastic cause. Thankyou for your support.. xxx
