Story
My name is Bek and I am raising money for Orphans Know More (OKM), a charity founded in 2005 in Harpenden and operating under Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Orphans Know More is a relationally based partnership between families in Uganda and the team in Harpenden. OKM works to give orphans a Face, a Family and a Future. OKM is focused on supporting families, believing that the best way to tackle the international orphans crisis is to care for children in families. OKM is strengthening more than 26 local families in the Jinja Region in Southern Uganda. Between them, these families have fostered or adopted 170 children as their own, offering love and acceptance without condition. These families function as nuclear and extended families, free from institutionalisation. Stronger families within the network also care for other vulnerable families.
In order to see these families strengthened and more children given the opportunity to grow up in loving homes, I have decided to take on a skydive! I am deathly afraid of heights and jumping out of an airplane is a terrifying thought to me of which I have reoccurring nightmares. Yet, I can not think of a greater reason to overcome this fear than to jump for such a worthy cause.
Please consider sponsoring me! The money will go towards placing children in families giving them the right to be children again. They no longer have to live with the stigma of being an orphan, but become a child again as a part of a family.
I'll be jumping December 10th at 12pm!
