Fundraising for Liverpool CHICS
I'm a busy mum of three boys, who are all teenagers. I work for the NHS in a community mental health team for older adults.
Life three and half years ago for my family was turned upside down when my youngest son Jack, aged 11 was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma - a very horrid cancer that mainly affects children and teenagers.
We are lucky as still a complete family - thanks to the care of my family and alder hey.
At our darkness hour we came across a charity that helped us to survive treatment and beyond-
CHICS - Liverpool children's cancer support group.
when on treatment at alder hey -
A man called Eddie Hicks appeared and popped his head around the curtain and asked/told me with his scouse humour to get me self down to a coffee morning on the ward , that had parents on treatment post treatment there.
Eddie would turn up regular during treatment to offer support as parent can offer especially when own chid has had cancer.
Also post treatment chic's continue to support the whole family - which is an unique point that this charity offers, support to whole family including the sibling who do get overlooked.
CHICS - Liverpool children cancer support group.
A very small ran by parents who have had children who had had cancer.
I'm hoping to raise awareness of this brilliant charity and some funds so can continue to provide coffee morning and treats for siblings.
This is open to all past present and friends of friends the more the better x
Also a special year as Eddie is retiring after many year's of service and who helped found this charity.
Please donate and grow a sunflower .
There are some other parents assisting with the organising - Sarah Barnard, Sarah Geragthy and Emma Elizabeth
winner will be announced at the sponsor walk in Sefton park on the 19th September 2021
