Story
Crohn’s and Colitis UK is a national charity in the battle against Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. We are fighting to achieve a better quality of life for the 300,000 people in the UK suffering physically and emotionally from these and other forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Ultimately, we want to find a cure.
This is a special charity to me as I myself was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in August 2014, just after completing my a-levels, which at the time was hell on earth for me as I was suffering from chronic fatigue due to iron and B12 deficiencies. I am now on life long medication as it is a chronic disease, and I would like to contribute to the charity in order for them to come closer to a cure. I am lucky as I only have it mildly but hearing how it has affected other people, especially young children is just awful. I feel like not a lot is known about the disease and by raising money I can help contribute to research to help us understand why we have this disease. I feel like other people who are very ill with IBD would not be fit to run a 10K, so I am lucky that I am able to and by doing so, raise money for this cause and at the same time spread awareness of IBD.
My target is £145.01 to fund research as stated on the Crohns and Colitis UK website - '£145.01 could help us fund a full days research that will improve lives today and that one day could deliver a cure.'
