Story
I'm running the London Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday the 10th of October. My aim is to raise no less than £450 for Plan.
Plans aim is to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life for the worlds poorest and most deprived children in developing countries. Often known as the Forgotten Children, Plan reaches out through a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and value to their lives.
Just a few example of their work are:
· Helping the street children of Dhaka who live their lives at the bottom of the pile, picking through stinking municipal rubbish dumps. Providing them with drop in centres where they can wash, store possessions and receive medical aid. Also giving them opportunities to learn and play.
· Tackling domestic violence in Cambodia, protecting women and children from abuse – vital to the well being of families. Violence and poverty go hand in hand in a nation where the Khmer Rouge used it as a means of conflict-solving. It has permeated their society deeply. Plan is spreading awareness of this issue and working closely with government, police and families.
· The Mangyans, A tribe in Mindoro, near the Philippines suffer deeply from poverty. Around 60% of the children are malnourished and 90% of the population cannot access clean, safe water.
. Working with the poorest communities in Zimbabwe, focusing on health, education, nutrition, HIV and AIDS, econimic security and child participation and protection. Please Please help me raise funds by donating to this worthy cause.
