Story
We are hosting a Charity Ball at Bath Racecourse on Friday 28th September with the hope to provide a Bluebell Care provision in the Bath and North East Somerset.
Bluebell Care is a charity that supports women and families experiencing perinatal mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. A debilitating illness that affects 1 in 5 Mothers and 1 in 10 Dads.

Why is support so important?
I'm Rebecca. A Midwife at the RUH in Bath, a Bluebell Midwifery Champion and a mother of two children. My passion lies in supporting women during pregnancy and giving birth. I feel it is vital to help mothers have a sense of control and through non-judgemental support they are able to manage their own mental health. For mums struggling during the perinatal period Bluebell can be invaluable. At such a vulnerable time in a woman’s life its lovely to know you can get help and support and even prevent a Mother from becoming seriously ill.
Why do we need this service in Bath?
Holly's Story ... In 2011 I gave birth to a beautiful little girl. Unfortunately very quickly after having her I became a very poorly new Mummy!
I was constantly anxious to the point of it becoming debilitating and at times I couldn’t even leave the house or do the most basic things that I would usually take for granted.
I had no idea that I was actually ill and experiencing Post Natal Illness.
Being given this diagnosis was actually a huge relief and once we knew what was happening I could take steps to get well.
I was referred to the Bristol Mother and Baby unit as a day patient where I was given lots of support, concentrated on my mental health by getting involved in holistic activities and access advice from a brilliant team of specialists. It took a while but when my daughter was nine months old I was discharged. Sadly soon after I left the unit the service I used was cut.
Around this time a wonderful charity was evolving. Bluebell Care. A safe place for new Mothers and family’s to access support when things weren’t going well in those months after having a baby. Sadly there is no service like this in the Bath area ... YET!
