Ok people of the world I'll explain why you are looking at my page. I'm going to be taking part in the North West Triathlon on Sunday 5th September. I'm doing what they call the FUN one (don't ask why they call it fun I have not worked that out for myself yet) this FUN triathlon consists of a 200 metre swim, a 20km cycle and a 2.5km run (well at that point a painful crawl). I took part in this last year, it was my first time doing one and I loved it so doing again this year, I also want to try and beat my time from last year (it was 1hr 45mins if you are wondering, and I have decided of the ambitious time of 1hr 30mins, when I told my trainer at the gym this she not only laughed at me but said i was crazy, this could be true but ive never been assessed :p ) anyway I digress, oh yer well I decided I was going to rasie some money along the way.

I'm going to rasie money for Diabetes UK. I never really thought about this condition (for a better word) until my family had a lost because of it. It also amazes me how many people I speak to either know someone or themselves have diabetes and speak about how it effects them.

My story is this, I have two nans (one is sadly not with us any more, she passed away four years ago) they both developed Type 2 Diabetes. My nan who is still with us (I call her chicken, don't ask) became very poorly about a year or so ago, her illness affected her diabetes which resulted in almost lossing her because the doctors we struggling to get it under control thankfully they did and she came home and is doing well. She is one tough cookie and she is my idol!!

On a sader note we were rocked 4 years ago when my cousin Chris died. He had Type 1 Diabetes and was only 32 years old when he passed. I think I am right in saying it was a shock when he passed for the simple reason is Chris was forever in and out of hospital because of his condition, all through my childhood and through my adulthood until the day he died. It became a common cycle, the norm almost so it was totaly unexpected as he always came out of hospital. Through his Type 1 Diabetes he went blind in one eye and could just about see through the other, he had kidney and heart failure but you know what folks I don't really remember him complaining I really don't. Even though his eye sight was failing he would still fix computers and he always had a sense of humour no matter what.

I would be very greatful if you could please sponsor me and help me raise some cash for a well deserving cause. I know money is tight theses days but hey what ever you give will be amazing and I will be forever bouncing round like Tigger !!
