For those of you who don't know me (and those who do!), I am heavily involved with volunteering for Girlguiding and have been a member since the age of 7. I currently do this by running a Brownie Unit in York, being a trainer and in my role as Deputy International Commissioner for Girlguiding at a national level.

In my roles I am always trying to give opportunities to girls and young women to have exciting and challenging “mountain top moments”. These moments could be to sleep away from home for just one night, attend a meeting in a “different” place, have their voice heard, try a new activity, learn something new or to travel the world.

This challenge is going to be one of my “mountain top Moments” – quite literally at one point - 4200m above sea level!! This will test my skills in new ways and take me out of my comfort zone. I will be spending 14 days in Peru, trekking at altitudes up to 4,500m across one of the most challenging ancient treks in the world with the most amazing views!!

I will be travelling with a group of fellow volunteers and supporters of Girlguiding, which include many I haven’t yet met – another exciting element!!

I am self-funding the costs for me to get to Peru, so all the money I raise will go directly to Girlguiding, offering us the chance to give more opportunities and a louder voice to girls and young women from across the UK who would not ordinarily have the chance. I am passionate about the impact Girlguiding can have and believe that every girl should have the chance to achieve their full potential in a safe environment where they can be themselves and express their views without being judged and know they will be heard.
