Olivia & Raul's READATHON Campaign

Raul Palma is raising money for Tompkins County Public Library Foundation Inc

Raul & Olivia's Second Readathon! · 24 April 2021

The READATHON is our annual read-out-loud challenge to raise funds for Tompkins County Public Library.

Story

We're super excited to be returning to this year's READATHON. We'll be reading from Carmen Lomas Garza's "Family Pictures / Cuadros de Familia." It's a beautifully illustrated book that offers vignettes of the author's childhood, growing up in Kingsville, Texas.

Sandra Cisneros, who introduces the book, writes, "These are family pictures. And it doesn't matter if your family is from Kingsville or Cairo, Sarajevo or Katmandu. They are your family pictures too."

We hope you'll tune in for our reading. In the meantime, please help us raise money for our local library. We're aiming for $250 this year. Donations will be used to buy books, films, and other materials patrons depend on to remain informed, entertained, and educated.

About the Readers:

Olivia is 7 years old and a student at the Elizabeth Ann Clune Montessori School of Ithaca. These days, she's taking classes remotely and leaning into her passion for art, art history, and music.

Raul is Olivia's father, a professor at Ithaca College, and a writer. These days, he's working with Olivia to get the vegetable garden into shape, and, with the little time that's available, going on long bike rides.
