Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our environment is constantly under threat, whether it be from deforestation, air pollution or multiple species under threat from extinction. Much of our land is being turned into farmland, reducing the area of species rich land. This in turn threats our bumblebee populations, which depend on the nectar from these plants to survive. Two species of bumblebee have already become extinct since 1940.
People often do not realise how much we depend on bees. The majority of our fresh produce in supermarkets would not be grown so successfully without bees, and would shoot up in price. In China, their bee populations are so low they have had to employ "pollinators", who brush flowers with a small brush in order to pollinate the plants.
Bumblebee Conservation Trust aim to help revive bumblebee populations in the UK by restoring flower rich habitats which the bees require to survive. They also aim to influence policy-making regarding bumblebees and other pollinators, and raise public awareness and knowledge, removing the harsh stigma surrounding these furry, friendly bees.
On the 22nd of November I will be fighting in a pink collar boxing match. I am training for eight weeks in preparation for this. it is extremely hard work, but is also very rewarding. There is also a chance to purchase tickets for this event if you wish to watch it.
