A little info on International Animal Rescue -

IAR works to rescue primates (primarily orangutans, macaques and slow lorises) from the pet trade, working to rehabilitate rescued animals with the aim of releasing them back into the wild. Recently, IAR has also been working to save as many orangutans as possible from forest fires in Borneo, relocating these animals to safe areas as quickly as possible. IAR also do educational outreach work both locally and globally to discourage the keeping of primates as pets. As you can imagine, all this work costs money.

Which brings us to the 10 Day Monkey Diet. For 10 days in March, I'll be only be eating foods which are included in the diet of the capuchin monkeys and chimpanzees at Edinburgh Zoo. Luckily, they recieve a fantastically varied diet, but one that is free from sugary, fatty, highly seasoned or processed foods (and needless to say, free from alcohol).

Food Preparation


Food may only be consumed raw, or cooked by boiling (in water), baking or microwaving.
Oil or seasonings cannot be used. Chopping/blending (such as for a
salad or a smoothie) is allowed.
