Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Here's my story...
Around a hundred families a year will have a loved one killed by someone with mental illness. Last year my family was one of these
hundred.
In June 2015, my father Ian Dollery was violently killed outside his home by an undiagnosed schizophrenic, high on a cocktail of illegal drugs and on a rampage with a knife. He'd done nothing to provoke the brutal attack by this complete stranger. My step-mum and sister bravely fought off the attacker, but it was too late.
The attacker was convicted of Murder in
July this year and sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison.
The help and support Hundred Families has given my family has been invaluable; from practical advice and information to help with
understanding the court process.
Another really important part of what Hundred Families does is working
with the Criminal Justice System, the Health Service and other organisations to embed learning in order to prevent these tragedies from happening in future. I want to raise as much money as I can to help them
do this, and possibly stop other families having to live through this nightmare.
I've been training hard over the last few months and I'm ready to give it my all. So please give generously!
