Story

Dear friends - at the beginning of October I'm aiming to complete the Liechtenstein Trail (a long distance walking route spanning the entire length of the country) over a weekend to raise money for the Juniper Trust. I'll be trekking 75km through all 11 municipalities.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on 25 April 2015, followed by a magnitude 7.3 aftershock two weeks later. More than 740,000 homes and 32,000 classrooms were damaged or destroyed throughout the country.

In 2022, the Juniper Trust is embarking on its 19th project in the remote village of Maili. The village school has 100 children and is still using temporary classrooms following the earthquake in 2015. They have had some help from the government to rebuild one classroom block and new toilets but have asked the Juniper Trust for help to rebuild a separate block of three classrooms that remained destroyed until January this year. In November 2022 a group of volunteers (myself included!) will help with painting the classrooms, deliver books for a library, new uniforms and equipment for the children.

My fellow volunteers & I hope to raise £10,000 in total (£5,000 to purchase and deliver new uniforms and equipment for 250 children (it costs just £20 to giver a child new hope with a school uniform, shoes, rucksack, pencils and books), £1,000 for painting, £2,000 to provide a new community library of 1,500 books and £2,000 to buy and help plant 2,500 fruit saplings during our visit. The saplings, a mixture of Walnut, Pecan, Peach, Plum, Sichuan Pepper, Mandarin and Lapsi, will generate fruit income for up to 10 years as they grow.)

Please support this incredibly worthwhile cause & help rebuild remote schools & support communities still recovering from the earthquake.

The Juniper Trust is run by volunteers, 98% of donations go to projects.
