<p>It never occurred to me how many people are affected with Diabetes until I met Dan and his son Olly, who is Type 1 Diabetic Olly has to undergo many prick tests and 4 insulin injections everyday. He is only 6 years of age and coped amazingly well since he was diagnosed in 2008. It has made me fully aware of how diabetes affects peoples lives on a daily basis, not only the individual but the whole family.</p> <p>In the last year alone, it has really been brought home how important it is that diabetes is made aware to everyone. Unfortunately a very close family friend died last year from Type 1 diabetes. I had no idea just how serious and potentially life threatening Diabetes can be.</p> <p>So, this year I have decided to run the Great North Run for a charity that is close to my heart. I hope that with the support of family and friends I can raise some money that will really help to find new methods of dealing with and curing illness for the millions who suffer daily.</p> <p>Any donations will be greatly appreciated.</p> <p>Thankyou.Wish me luck :-)</p> <p>Rachel xx</p>
