Story
Jack's hearing loss was diagnosed when he was just hours old, we were told that being deaf in one ear should not lead to any problems and he would not need any extra help to learn to listen and speak. Not long after this diagnosis, his hearing in his 'good' ear declined and shortly after his first birthday he was profoundly deaf in both ears. He received bilateral cochlear implants just before his 2nd birthday.
The Elizabeth Foundation is a fantastic charity that has supported us along Jack's hearing journey and I couldn't thank them enough for all the help and support they have given us and other families. Jack attends the Elizabeth Foundation pre-school 2 mornings per week which has been fundamental in developing Jack's listening, speech & language and social skills. So please donate if you can to help them continue their valuable work. Rachel xx
“We thought that he would never be able to speak to us... Nor, more importantly, would he ever be able to hear us tell him we love him.” Parent of profoundly deaf little boy.
The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) helps deaf babies and pre school children learn to listen and speak. We are there to support and inform families from the moment their child is diagnosed with any degree of hearing loss. This year over 80 babies, toddlers and pre-school children will attend specialist education programmes and get individual speech and language therapy
