Story

UPDATE... I DID IT!!! I climbed Kilimanjaro and survived!!

Thank you all for your sponsorship and support, i survived 6 days, 5 nights sleeping in the smallest 2 man (yeah right) tent I have ever seen! 7-10 hours hiking each day with 13 hours treking on summit night! No showers, no washing, loads of walking and climbing and suffering vertigo like you wouldnt believe but I DID IT!!!

We have raised soooo much for CRUK and I flew my flag at the summit too. What an amazing experience. I met some wonderful people who will be friends for life and knowing that what we have done has gone such a long way to helping to find treatment and hopefully one day a cure!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, you were all with me every step of the way.

Lots of love

Rachel xxxxx (now smelling a lot better too!!)

Dear friends,

Many of you will know that I was due to be running in the 2013 April London Marathon and then the Torbay Marathon in June. Unfortunatly after months of training I suffered an injury that refused to heal and meant I could not compete in either event. I was devestated after so much training and raising a whopping £7,828.

Well you know me, never one to be down for long I have taken the bull by the horns and committed to another massive challenge worthy of the money already pledged and hopefully to get my total to £15,000 meaning the grand total would reach a massive £50,000

In October 2014 I will be climbing Africa's biggest mountain, Kilimanjaro. 5,895 metres to the summet going through all different terain and climates too. Climbing for 6 days, 7+ hours trekking a day, sleeping in tents, no showers, no straightners, no mobile, NO ALCOHOL and as an actute vertigo suffer and motion sickness sufferer who hates heights and camping its going to be my biggest challenge EVER!!. Thankfully a dear friend will be taking on this challenge too so we will both be stinky birds in a tent together!!!

Please please PLEASE, if you would like to help me on my way in this massive and biggest challenge to date please support me and help make this all worthwhile. I am also doing "Climb Kili with Rachel" where you can sponsor me and send in a photo of a loved one connected to cancer and I will have it screened onto a massive flag which I will be taking with me to the top of Kilimanjaro and flying it in the name of Cancer Research and all those connected to it...just email me for more details.

Thank you for your support and please keep logging onto my page to see how the training and sponsorship is going. Together we CAN make a difference.

Love to all

Rachel xxx

Dear Friends,

This year I had entered the London Marathon raising money for Cancer Research. After many gruelling months of training and getting upto 19 mile runs, I sustained an injury to my tendon. After weeks of rest and intense physio i attempted a small run to test the leg and managed a mere 2 miles. I am still with the injury and have had no choice but to withdraw from the marathon.

I am absolutely gutted and so disappointed after all the hard training we had put in, i will be in London to support my running buddy all be it on the sidelines and not where I planned! I am hoping to get this leg sorted and be able to do the Torbay Half Marathon in June, fingers crossed with the leg. Worse case I will face my fears and acute vertigo and take to the heights on a sky dive or bungee, whatever it will be a challenge to ultimately raise money for Cancer Research.

To all those that have supported me and got the total to almost £3,500 i hope you understand my decision. I need to keep my leg injury free for future challenges too!

Thank you

Rachel xx

On Sunday 21 April 2013, I will be taking to the streets of London to compete for the first time in the London Marathon, all 26.2 miles of it!

No stranger to a challenge, I have done the New York marathon in 2009, a 15,000 foot skydive in 2011, two half marathons and countless Race for Life events, anything to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

This time I am having my running outfit covered in photographs of people connected with cancer. My dear auntie, cousin and Nan will take the place above my heart but I have the rest of me available! If you would like to sponsor a photo of your special someone, please message me for more details. Let me know your story too, if a survivor or a loved one lost, as I want to know all the faces who will be on this journey with me.

I would dearly love to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research in this Marathon challenge.

Please give what you can to help and together we will make a difference.

Thank you all

Rachel xx
