“It takes a village to raise a child “
The mental health in children and young adults has never been more of an issue than now.
The waiting lists for support are long and the process is tedious and often hopeless . The whole sector is over stretched and underfunded. This is a national crisis up and down the country .
Never before have children had so much pressure and expectations made of them -the education system , constant testing , exams starting earlier and earlier, social media, peer pressure and self image, virtual friendships and connections and then with Covid , disconnecting them even further.
Moving from colourful primary into secondary school is a huge step and some children just cannot cope, so by the time they reach college they are at a disadvantage.
The Princes Trust helps young adults to gain confidence and self esteem by providing special programmes to build them up and prepare them for further education and their adult life .
The Princes Trust provides hope and helps young adults reach their full potential.
My own children are now on The Princes Trust programme and already there is already positive changes being made.
So walking Hadrian’s Wall has been on my “to do list” for a long time. I’ll be walking 84 miles plus from West to east starting at Bowness on Solway to Wallsend in Newcastle with my backpack camping along the route come rain or shine.
Now seemed like the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of the issues I’ve talked about and support this amazing charity. Please help me raise some funds, paying it forward for others to receive help too
Best wishes

* Addendum- I just want to say a huge huge Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this mad walk and who has also kindly donated to the charity. So much support from far and wide and unexpected places. I have experienced such kindness from absolute strangers and encouragement from so many , I am eternally grateful .
Would I do this again? probably ! What have I learnt ? Well maybe not try and walk during October half term, the weather was pretty grim and it got me down once or twice, pack less, plan more , take more blister dressings and eat more chocolate! 😊🥾🍫x
