I'm running to raise money for this small yet worthy charity as I want to raise awareness of the horrific issues faced by children in war zones across the world.

The problems faced by young children on a daily basis in countries devastated by war are ones which I feel need highlighting and eradicating. War Child looks forward to a world in which the lives of children are no longer torn apart by war. Their mission is to support and improve the protection and care of children and young people who live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion in some of the worst conflict-affected places.

What grabs the headlines is children being killed and maimed by the bombs and bullets of war. But some are recruited to become soldiers themselves and are placed directly in the firing line. Rape and sexual violence are increasingly being used as a weapon of war. Many girls and young women have babies as a result, or are injured in such a way that they cannot have children in the future.
