Story
As part of RUMS Welfare Week 2022, we will be raising money for Beat Eating Disorders, a national charity (no 801343) supporting those that have been affected by eating disorders.
On average, an undergraduate medical student receives two hours of teaching on eating disorders, and 20% of medical schools do not include them in their curriculum whatsoever. Eating disorders are still widely misunderstood by medical students and healthcare professionals. Consequently, those suffering do not get the timely referrals and support that they need.
Given that 1.25 million people in the UK are suffering from an eating disorder, it is crucial that every doctor is equipped with the skills to support someone with an eating disorder, no mater what area of medicine they practice.
If you need help yourself, or are worried about a loved one, please check out the Beat website (https://www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/). You are not alone, and you deserve help. With the right support, things can be so much better.
We would be extremely grateful if you could donate to our fundraiser for Beat, UK’s Eating Disorder’s Charity. Your donation will help provide essential support to those affected by eating disorders.
Donate throughout the week, at Sport's Night or in support of our Fun Run!
ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO THE CHARITY.
