Story
On the 11th June , 14 members of Loughborough Round Table will be heading North to Whitehaven, to start our Coast to Coast Charity bike ride challenge. This year we are continuing to raise money for Ashmount School based in Loughborough. Ashmount School provides education for over 100 children with special educational needs. Having recently relocated to a fantastic new facility in Loughborough, the money we have raised so far has gone towards outdoor play equipment, which has been a massive benefit to the children and money raised from our ride will also go into this area.
Ashmount School is a very personal Charity for Loughborough Round Table as it was the chosen charity of our past Chairman Jon May who tragically passed away in 2013. Both his children Daniel and Chloe and Loughborough Round Table have continued his legacy in supporting Ashmount School, and we would like to thank everyone who has so generously sponsored us so far. Jon is greatly missed by all of us and in his memory our main charity event each year will be known as The Jon May Challenge.
Our Jon May Challenge this year is to cycle 140 miles from The East coast of England to Tynemouth on the West coast in just 2 days. In true Round Table spirit 2 members have decided to 'raise the bar' , and will be going up the previous day and will ride 140 miles in one day from West to East; before joining the rest of us to turnaround and head back again. Nearly 300 miles in 3 days - good luck with that one guys, hope your saddles are comfy !!
