In 2014 Joseph Holt Ltd celebrates a unique centenary of support for The Christie Holt Radium Institute.  In 1914 my Great Grandfather, Sir Edward Holt, raised £20,000 to help build the Holt Radium Institute, one of the first cancer treatment hospitals in the country.

This year the Company is mounting a £300,000 centenary appeal to provide a reception area for the very exciting new Integrated Procedures Unit to be built at The Christie in Withington.  Every £1 raised will be doubled by the Edward Holt and Peter Kershaw Trusts.

In support of the appeal my younger brother Richard and his son Andy are undertaking a 1000 mile bike ride through 5 countries of Europe from France to Denmark.  Our son Tom and some of his pals are launching them on their way in Cherbourg.  Chris and I are intending to accompany them for the final 250 miles and help to nudge them over the finishing line in Esbjerg.
