On the 25th of March 2017, three serving Whitstable Lifeboat crewmen, Adrian, Steve and Oz, are running a 118 mile relay around the coast of Kent. Starting at Gravesend RNLI station, the run will visit each Kent RNLI station as well as Leysdown Lifeguard Station en route to Dungeness RNLI.
The aim of the challenge to promote awareness of the Respect The Water campaign and raise money for the RNLI: the charity that saves lives at sea. Each runner will take on a leg of the run, between 10-14 miles at a time, before 'handing the baton' over to the next runner. If you think of a marathon and a half each... you won't be far wrong!
The challenging 118 mile course will pass all Lifeboat stations in Kent which are: Gravesend, Sheerness, Leysdown (Lifeguard station), Whitstable, Margate, Ramsgate, Walmer, Dover, Littlestone & Dungeness.
The three intrepid runners will be supported by other volunteers from the Whitstable Lifeboat Station along the route; manning the support vehicles, offering kind words and wisdom and very possibly cake! If anyone would like to don their trainers to run a mile with the guys the support would be greatly received.
Please visit the Whitstable RNLI page to check on the progress of the runners using the live tracking facility on the dedicated RNLI Kent Coast Challenge page www.whitstablelifeboat.org.uk
If you are able to sponsor us to help us reach our target please remember to add GiftAid and put your name in the message so we can thank you properly.
