As many of you know I should be a granny by the time this Race takes place. We will all be celebrating, but one person will be missing and that is the baby's other grandmother - who died from cancer several years ago.

Ruth is a friend I never knew - there are others, of course, who I know or have known well who have been beaten by or are bravely fighting cancer.
