Lizzie: I am running Race For Life for my Dad, Trevor Church. He sadly passed away on 9th February 2009 after bravely fighting cancer for two years. Throughout the whole illness, he always remained positive and I was so astounded at how much energy he had. He continued jogging and climbing mountains throughout his chemotherapy and was still promising to teach me to climb even after he fell ill in January . He was the bravest man I knew and I am really lucky to have had him as my father. I know he would be proud of me running Race for Life, although I will never be as fit as he was. I am also running this race for my family: for my Mum, my sister, my brother and my gorgeous niece and nephew who are all suffering from his loss. We pray that he is happy and I'm sure that he is watching over us. His fight against cancer has inspired me to make the most of my life and I hope that May 31st is a day of celebration for all the many other brave people like my Dad. Please give generously to this fantastic charity.
Emily: I am running Race For Life for my Grandpa, Graham Wyer. He passed away on the 24th June 2007 after a brave fight against cancer. Throughout his life he was a passionate teacher; lay preacher; actor and family man. His zest for life insipired all who knew him, and even throughout his illness his sense of humour remained on top form! I feel honoured to have had him as my Grandpa, and know the rest of my family feel equally as proud to have had him in their lives. Although he eventually lost his battle against bowel cancer, he suffered from another form of cancer seven years previously. Even after a successful operation, he was given a maximum of six months to live. However, his positive attitude and determination gave him an extra 6 and a half years with us, of which we are still thankful for today. Without this operation (made possible through Cancer Reaserch UK) we wouldn't have had those precious extra months, let alone years. My Grandpa was, and still is, my inspiration, and I know he would want this to be a positive day of fundraising fun! So, please support this wonderful charity by sponsoring us for Race For Life. It means so much to so many.
