Story
Regina Luxon is swimming the English Channel as part of a relay team in the summer of 2012 in aid of spinal cord injury charity Aspire. Originally Regina had a solo planned for July 2012, but this has been delayed until the relay for Aspire has taken place.
Having been both a Track & Field athlete and then completing a few marathons, a back injury has made Regina change sports - hence the swimming! Fund raising for Aspire is a chance to make a difference to those who need it, to get on with their lives in an independant way. I am pleased to be able to help........the channel is for a day in our lives, it is the least we can do to help.
Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work places and in leisure time.
Together the team is going to be raising money for Aspire in a variety of different ways. I have been training through last winter and had a great summer of sea miles but now there is another winter ahead to get ready for the fantastic opportunity to be part of a great team who will together swim the English Channel!
