RecAid – help for recruitment advertisingThis has been a tough year for the advertising industry generally and especially for recruitment advertising. When Barkers, the world’s oldest advertising agency, and its sister agency TCS went into administration in July 2009, it left hundreds of people without a job and, in many cases, without the redundancy payments or pay that they were expecting.
Many people know friends who were affected, or have seen former colleagues suffer as a result of the wider downturn in the industry.
RecAid has been formed in partnership with NABS by leaders and managers from agencies and media companies across the spectrum of recruitment advertising to help.
RecAid will provide support to anybody from a recruitment advertising background who is facing severe hardship, with a particular focus in the short-term on those who suffered after Barkers and TCS went into administration. More details on the fund are available on
www.recaid.co.uk, while information about NABS and the help it can provide are on www.nabs.org.uk
The immediate target is to raise £100,000. This will not only make financial support available to those in desperate need, but will also fund training and advisory services to help recruitment advertising people cope with transition and back into worthwhile careers. It’s important that we get there quickly.
By supporting the fund, you are not simply making a difference financially. You’re letting everyone who has suffered as a result of the downturn in our industry that they have not been overlooked or forgotten.
Thank you.
