Story
What do you get for your money?
£5000 is the average yearly running cost for a car.
OR
It could be used to fund research into an innovative project to twin teachers and city professionals for cross-cultural learning and exchange through the Guild of Educators.
£30,000 would get you an 'Air Supported' tennis hall made of polyester fabric
OR
It would ensure funding for a special needs teacher in Rwanda for two years as a VSO volunteer.
£100,000 would buy Elton John flowers for his studio flat for six months
OR
It would fund an entire VSO Global Exchange youth volunteering project that unites young people from Britain and developing countries for work here and overseas.
A few months ago a few of us decided to go for a nice walk and raise some money for charity. Then we were told the walk would involve compasses, whistles, emergency shelters(!) and VHF hand-held radio’s (cool) and all of a sudden, things got a whole lot more serious....
Our objective is to climb the three highest peaks in the UK in 24 hours. On Saturday afternoon we will ascend Ben Nevis which will take us 5 ½ hours. We then jump (or more realistically, fall) into a minibus to head to Scafell Pike in the Lake District which we start climbing at 6am. Once this is in the bag, we’re back on the tour bus and off to Mount Snowdon to complete the challenge with the last 4 hours climbing.
We need your help
We need to raise £5000 for the lord Mayor’s Appeal.
£2500 needs to be raised by the end of June so we have no time to spare.
This is a hugely important appeal and we need every single penny we can get.
So if you can help, we'd very much appreciate it
Thank you
From the Reader's Digest Three Peaks Team
