Story
The event is being held at Bradwell
Marina (Essex CM0 7RB), just in front
of where the old Number One runway finished. We are delighted to confirm that the Flypast is going to be supported by a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire, Hurricane and the Motor Torpedo Boat (MTB) 102. During Operation Dynamo (the evacuation from Dunkirk, May–June 1940) MTB102 crossed the channel EIGHT times and acted as Navy’s Flagship for
Rear Admiral Wake-Walker when his ship was disabled. To commemorate
the ultimate sacrifice which the 121 airmen made whilst serving at RAF
Bradwell Bay the Motor Torpedo Boat will release 121 poppy’s into the
River Blackwater. This is planned to
take place at precisely 12 O’clock on the 27th August, with each poppy
having the name of one of the airmen written on it.To make this a
more memorable event, and to support the ongoing work of the RAF
Benevolent Fund, we are offering each poppy for sponsorship. This will
give the sponsor the chance to add THEIR own personal tribute /
dedication on the poppy. Please can you contact me directly if you
wish to sponsor a poppy (we only have 121 of them, so when they have
gone… they've gone!!). You will also get to look over the Motor Torpedo
Boat on the day. Please note, the poppy’s will not be available to
sponsor on the day. All monies raised will go to the RAF Benevolent
fund so that they can continue to support our service personnel in their
time of need. Many thanks in advance for your support, Ian and Sarah
