Story
In October I found out that I had been given a place in this years London Marathon. Initially I was so excited that I danced around the kitchen like I had just won the lottery, then the enormity of the endless miles that lay ahead dawned on me. I started my training plan in the New year and it has been going well, even managing to put the miles in during a blizzard. The going is starting to get tough now with the long runs on Sundays getting longer and longer. This gives me many hours on my own to think about my family and friends.
Many of you may know my sister-in-law Sarah who found out in July last year that her breast cancer had returned. Sarah has remained really strong emotionally and has always managed to keep a smile on her face whilst having to endure a mastectomy, chemo and all the painful side effects such as losing her hair. All this on top of caring for her 4yr old son Ethan, is a source of inspiration which has led me to the idea of using the London Marathon as a way of raising much needed funds, with your help of course for Breast Cancer Care.
All Donations both large and small enable Breast Cancer Care to provide expert services free of charge:
£2 pays for a headscarf set, helping to boost the confidence of a woman who has lost her hair as a result of her breast cancer treatment.
£52 pays for a personal appointment with HeadStrong, a service that helps women cope with the distress of hair loss from cancer treatment. From where to find a suitable wig to the best products to use to create believable eyebrows.
£132 pays to connect someone going through breast cancer with a trained volunteer who has had a similar experience to them and can provide one-to-one support and reassurance.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page,
