Project Origin - Planting One Million Trees
Fundraising for TREE AID
Story
We're aiming to plant one million trees between now and 2018, to show how adventure can be used as a powerful source for good.
We're doing this in four main ways:
- By enabling 200 adventurers to set off on their own fundraising adventurers each year (we call this the #Begin initiative)
- Through a global series of Adventure Stories evenings, designed to spread inspiration and raise money
- Online donations and other partnerships
- Origin25: a series of 25 x 100+ mile journeys by Origin inflatable paddleboards
Project Origin was founded in late 2014, and the first leg of Origin25 was completed in December 2014 - a team of five completed the first ever circumnavigation of Martinique, 145 miles in 12 days.
Our first Adventure Stories evening was held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on January 12th 2015. And already the first adventurers from the #Begin initiative have taken flight (or hit the road).
As well as hoping that you have a couple of spare coins to donate towards our tree planting project, if you feel that you'd like to take on an adventure or organise an Adventure Stories event (wherever you live), please do get in touch.
The result of our tree-planting objectives differs depending on the project and the place, but employment and training for 1000's, benefits to local communities, increased trade, access to medicines, larger wildlife habitats, stronger soils and more carbon storage are just a few of the reasons to do this.
Plus, I really love sleeping in hammocks, and it'd be cool to pop a couple of trees in the ground and a few years later go and have a kip between them :)
