Story

Dear Friends,

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As you may be aware, some of us at Tristan have decided to take the plunge and run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on the 9th of October 2011.  The intrepid few include Monica, Kate, Jayne, Louise, Sameer, Mac, Charles and Priyan, but you are welcome to join us!

As much as we would like to say that our goal is to finish the run in a record time, the reality is that most of us will be very happy if we just FINISH and raise some money for our favourite charity.

Our goal is to raise as much money as possible, for what we believe is a very worthy charity, namely the  Eastside Young Leaders' Academy (EYLA).

EYLA exists to nurture and develop the leadership potential of young African and Caribbean males, empowering them to become the next generation of successful leaders.  They provide educational and emotional support for boys aged 8-18, particularly those identified as being at risk of social exclusion.

EYLA is not a school but an educational and leadership development organisation, which works alongside schools to motivate and encourage students to stay in class and remain on task.

EYLA focus on respect and self worth, inculcating a culture of hard work, academic excellence and civic responsibility.

As a final note your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now and wish us luck!
