Story
If you have landed here, thank you so much and welcome.
Whilst the idea of spending my uni summer 2k19 in London, I was really keen to use my time to do something amazing and worth while. I have signed up to climb Mt Kenya and I am super excited about the challenge ahead.
I am training to be a Primary School teacher and passionate about children and their education. Raising Futures Kenya does an amazing amount of support for disadvantaged and destitute children in Kenya: providing opportunities to develop life and business skills that open up many career opportunities; finding nurturing families to take in orphan children; Children with special needs are still considered a curse to the family and Raising Futures Kenya fund two specialist schools in order to support these vulnerable children and I will be visiting them when I am out there.
Please see website for more detail about the charity and what they do: https://www.raisingfutureskenya.org.uk/. Please note that the charity has changed its name and used to be called Vision Africa.
Whilst it all seems so far from our reality, where opportunities are at our fingers tips, it is important to appreciate what we have and not take it for granted. I was lucky enough to be able to teach out in Malawi in my Gap year and was able to experience all of this first hand. I have always wanted to go back to Africa and do something more to support the future generation.
Thank you so much in advance for any donation as every little helps! xx
