Story
Those who know me know that I passionately believe the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and that’s why I feel so proud to be fundraising for Girlguiding Anglia ❤️
On 8th May I’m going to ABSEIL down THE FORUM in Norwich, I know, call me mad, but read on to find out why I’m willing to take on the challenge...
Having been in the Girlguiding movement for over 20 years, I can honestly say this amazing charity has changed my life.
I’ve had opportunities beyond imaginable from sleeping under a shark tunnel to organising the first ever Norfolk sleepover on trampolines! I’ve virtually trained our sisters in Mexico, I’ve been lucky enough to train hundreds of leaders in Safe Space to help keep our members safe and I’ve learnt a lot about leadership and myself too.
But more importantly, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of so many young women’s lives, offering them opportunities and skills which seem unreachable to so many.
I feel so lucky to have the privilege, week in, week out, to play the tiniest part in empowering young women that they can do ANYTHING. Each week our lovely Guides & Rangers turn up and I love listening to their stories of what they’ve achieved over the week and watching their faces light up as we hand them another badge or invite them to a unit camp.
And whilst financial support is so very gratefully received, I openly invite anyone to have a chat about how they can get involved, how they can join our Girlguiding Family, changing the lives of, and inspiring young women each and every day. Volunteers are the bread and butter of Girlguiding, and without more leaders, we simply cannot open up these amazing opportunities to even more young people. If you’ve ever thought it could be an opportunity for you, now could be your time to join us!
Thank you for reading my story and supporting the lives of young girls and women ❤️
Note: I will be paying the abseil fee myself, ensuring every penny goes to this very worthwhile cause.
